PAUL MANDELL

Education
I earned my Masters Degree in Exercise Science at Humboldt State University. My area of study was the Critical Power model in cycling. Throughout both my undergraduate and graduate coursework I focused on Strength & Conditioning, Exercise Testing & Prescription, and Nutrition.
I currently hold the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S) certification through the NSCA, and the Level 1 Weightlifting Certification through the USAW.
Experience
At HSU I worked as a teaching associate for exercise testing and prescription, exercise physiology, and sport psychology, and became highly proficient in exercise testing and prescription in the Human Performance Lab.
-Before entering the graduate program at HSU, I interned at Mesa Rim Climbing Gym in San Diego as a Strength Coach & Youth Climbing Coach which led me to a position as the Climbing Wall Coordinator for the Student Recreation Center at HSU as well as volunteering as a route setter at Far North Climbing Gym in Arcata.
Current Positions
I coach Strength and Conditioning, Olympic weightlifting, and CrossFit at Bishop Strength & Wellness and work as a freelance writer for fitness gear columns at Gearjunkie.com.
When I am not working or coaching you can find me climbing, skiing, riding my bike, and of course, training.
